An entry for the 24 word RPG jam

A Good Death is a minimalist solo rpg about reflecting back on a life completed.

The game is based around hospice care principals first introduced in the 1970s by A. D. Weisman. While these ideas have evolved over time, the core approach of trying to afford people the best possible experience at the end of life continues on with palliative care today.

Care
Receiving the  best care possible - You are listened to, comfortable, and able to conserve energy for the things that matter.

Control
Control is lost as one comes closer to death. Loss of identity, independence and control can lead to loss of dignity and self esteem. Control of small routine things, such as mealtimes can help regain some sense of control.

Composure
Ability to modulate emotional extremes, not to avoid sadness but to have moments of relief. This might include using different coping techniques.

Communication
Having the opportunity to communicate what you desire, and keeping your family aware.

Continuity
Preserving as normal of a life as possible through the experience.

Closure
Coming to terms with the finality, and being able to not leave the major things of life unresolved. Reconciliation and final good byes

This game is meant to be a reflective and contemplative experience about death, where you place yourself in the role of someone who is dying. As it covers a difficult subject matter, please check in with yourself and stop playing if you find the subject too difficult or are in a bad place mentally/emotionally to handle it.
